Angie Joette “Joy” Carraway Berryman, age 65, of Sanford, NC, died Monday, June 4, 2018 at UNC Hospitals. She was born in Wayne County, NC on March 16, 1953 to the late Delbert Franklin Carraway and Angie Adell Lewis Carraway. Joy graduated from Elon College (Now Elon University) and taught elementary school in the Lee County School System for 35 years.

After retirement, she volunteered at Tramway Elementary School. She was an active member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church where she sang in the adult choir and worked in multiple church activities. She is survived by her husband Thomas Edward “Eddie” Berryman; son Timothy Andrew “Andy” Berryman and wife Amy of Holly Springs; daughter Chrissy Berryman of Sanford; brother Shelton Franklin Carraway and wife Tonda of Sanford; and grandchildren Maya, Caitlyn, Aidyn and Tyler.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 8, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the McDowell Fellowship Hall of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Dr. Calvin Sayles officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church (any outreach program), 316 West Main Street, Sanford, NC 27332.
