John William “Buster” Coggins, age 86, of Sanford, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 27, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. Buster was born on January 3, 1932 to the late Wilbur Coggin and Beatrice Gaines Coggin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Coy Coggin.

After proudly serving his country in the Air Force, Buster enjoyed a long career in farming. Buster is survived by his wife, Madge Hancock Coggins; son, John W. Coggins, Jr. and Teri of Oregon; four daughters, Karen McNeill and husband, Scott, Tammy Johnson and husband, Clyde, Angela Cole and husband, William, Pamela Blalock and husband, Teddy; two brothers, Jimmie Coggin and wife, Peggy, Thomas Coggin and wife, Fancy; three sisters, Jewell Stone, Sylvia Adcock and husband, Albert and Mollie Slate all of Sanford; sister-in-law, Ann Coggin of Greensboro; grandchildren, Matthew McNeill, Jenna Brown, Patrick Coggins, Stephanie Motley, Lara Wind, Clayton Cole, Arrington Crilly, Abigail Johnson, Alex Johnson and Jackson Cole; eight great-grandchildren and a long-time friend, Fay Godbee and husband, Billy of Georgia. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the sanctuary at Grace Chapel Church.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Grace Chapel Church with Rev. Joel Murr and Rev. Bob Yandle officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
