Virginia Evelyn Spivey Clewis, age 96, of Sanford, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Westfield Rehabilitation and Health Center. Mrs. Clewis was born on June 28, 1922 to the late Lonnie Lee Spivey and Lessie Blalock Spivey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Harold Clewis; four brothers, Lee Scott Spivey, Robert Lee Spivey, Marvin Joseph Spivey, Lonnie Lee Spivey, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Joanne Spivey.

Virginia was retired from Eaton Corporation. She is survived by her son, Harold Clewis and wife, Lucy of Sanford; three daughters, Patricia Thomas of Olivia, Peggy Williams of Sanford and Dale Cameron and husband, Bobby of Sanford; nine grandchildren, Greg Christian, Patrice Gohia, Darryl Christian, Cameron Thomas, III, Brad Clewis, Shane Thomas, Aaron Clewis, Chad Cameron and Casey Gallardo; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of Swann Station Baptist Church.

The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Russell Blackmon and Pastor Elton Bryan officiating. Burial will follow the service in Buffalo Cemetery.
