Obituary for Arnold “Butch” Sartori Arnold “Butch” Sartori 80, of Sheboygan passed away on Wednesday May 2, 2018 at Sharon Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin after a short illness. Arnie was born on August 12th, 1937 in Niagra, Wisconsin. He was a star football player for Niagra High School.

He married Kathleen Mae Grey in 1955. Arnie enlisted in the US Navy in 1955 as a radio operator and was assigned to the USS Stickleback stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. During maneuvers the USS Stickleback was struck by the destroyer USS Silverstein and sank.

As radio operator, Arnie was one of the last crew members to exit the sub. After being discharged from the Navy in 1958, Arnie received his High School diploma and worked for the Niagra paper mill. He then attended Northern Michigan University and during that time he worked two jobs supporting his wife and two children.

Arnie graduated in 1963 with a business administration degree in accounting. He joined the US Forest Service and worked on national forests in northern Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and finished his career in Washington DC. He retired in 1999 and moved to Rhinelander, Wisconsin in 2008.

He moved again to Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 2013 to be with his sons and grandchildren and spent winters with his daughter in Arizona. Arnie was an avid golfer and part time golf pro. He enjoyed telling of the time he golfed with Steve Spurrier, South Carolina football coach.

Just like his father, he was handy with tools. He remodeled numerous homes including adding bathrooms and large wood decks. If there was something that needed to be fixed or replaced you could count on him to help.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, father Dominic Sartori, mother Bernice Payne and brother in laws Tom Prefountain and Mitchell Miller. He is survived by his children David Sartori, Carrie (Charles) Sartori-Rosen and Michael Sartori, grandchildren Ethan Sartori and Nicole Sartori and sisters Murine Schinderle – Prefountain and Arlene Miller and brother Vernor Sartori. He was our Dad.

He was our friend. The visitation will be on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 12 noon to 1:00 pm at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, Rev.
