Obituary for Jake Allan Tousignant Jake Allan Tousignant, 24, of Minneapolis, formerly of Iron Mountain, died on Tuesday June 26, 2018 in Minneapolis Minnesota. He was born on December, 11, 1993, in Iron Mountain, son of Donna (Elliott) Tousignant and the late Todd Tousignant. Jake graduated from Kingsford High School in 2012.
Jake was a person with style. He moved to Milwaukee to pursue music and while there he trained at the Aveda Institute to become a barber part-time while he established himself in the music scene. He left Milwaukee and was self-employed at Lyn Lake Barber shop in Minneapolis.
Since he was a baby, our family knew Jake was an old soul and his decision to live life with a guitar and clippers in hand to make his way was fitting. Jake had a passion for music from a very early age. He was a self-taught musician and played any instrument he could get his hands on.
Jake followed in his father’s footsteps as an accomplished drummer. His passion for music was nourished by his father’s eclectic taste in music. In high school, he played in the jazz band and had a “basement” band with his brother and several friends.
Along with his passion for music Jake was involved in many sports including baseball, soccer, snow skiing and snowboarding, and water skiing. Jake contemplated life on a deeper level than most. From that depth, he created heart-felt lyrics which later became recordings on his two solo albums, “Chest Pains” (2014) and “Somewhere to Somewhere and Everywhere in Between” (2017) under the name Jake Allan.
Along with his solo career, Jake joined Jared Zachary in the band Buffalo Fuzz in early 2016. Right away Jake was a perfect fit for the band and quickly became well known for his drumming which took their band to the next level. Jake is a well known drummer not only in Minneapolis, but all over the country and all over the world.
Jake is survived by his mother, Donna Tousignant, his brother Zackery Tousignant, Paternal Grandmother Maddy Tousignant, Maternal grandparents Gerald and Joanne Elliott, aunts and uncles Julie (Pete) Piatti, Anita Abraham, Cindy Tousignant, and Ken Tousignant, Cousins Krystal Elliott, Samantha Abraham, Tony Piatti, Best friends Nick Sweig and Jared Zachary, and many other close family and friends. Jake was preceded in death by his father Todd Tousignant on June 28, 2016, his paternal grandfather, Don Tousignant, paternal great-grandmother Antoinette Carollo, maternal grandmother Barbara Elliott, uncles Michael Elliott and Sammy Abraham. The Visitation will be on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 9am-12 noon at Erickson Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
The Funeral Service will follow at 12 noon, at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate.
