Artie R. Smith, 61, of Anderson, a simple man with a huge heart, passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2019. He was born on September 2, 1957 in Anderson, where he resided all of his life. He retired from General Motors in Marion.

He was a member of a large loving family, the Moose Lodge #150, and Dale Hollow Lake Community. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, boating, riding his Harley, camping, all types of music, especially classic country, The Indianapolis Colts, and he had a real passion for the History Channel. He was a great storyteller, always having a funny story to share.

Artie is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Cindy(Quick) Smith; children, Brianna (Chris) Neylon, Benjamin (Vanessa) Smith; grandchildren, Liam Neylon, Nora Neylon, Zoey Smith, Abel Smith, Ayda Smith; siblings, Lynn (Les) Campbell, Ronnie (Kathie) Smith; sister-in-law, Kathy Smith; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy “Corky” and Charlene Smith; and his brother, Ricky “Smitty” Smith. A brief tribute will be held Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 3:30 pm, with visitation until 6:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson.

There will be a memorial celebration immediately following the visitation at the Moose Lodge #150 in Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana, DYFofIndiana.org/donate in Artie’s name. www.
