Obituary for Augustine Singleton Porter-Jones Augustine “Dear” Singleton Porter-Jones Augustine “Dear” Singleton Porter-Jones was born September 21, 1919. Dear entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 13, 2018. She worked for Dr. Peterson and his family for many years as a caregiver.

Dear was a mother, caregiver and cook to everyone in the lower 9th ward. Dear is survived by her 2 daughters: Ivory Porter-Webb(Mark Webb) and Laverne Jones-Phillip(Lawrence Phillip), Sister Gloria Singleton-Maryland, Brother Oscar Singleton, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She was preceded to rest with her mother, Rebecca Singleton; father, Andrew Singleton; Children: Beulah Lewis, Azetta Pierce, Barbara Porter, James Porter, Irvin Porter and Isaac Jones.

Siblings: Ben, Lawrence, Lenard Singleton, Dorothy Washington and Fabiola Macklin. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 1020 Virgil Street, Gretna, La. 70053 on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00AM.

Visitation will begin at 9:00AM. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
