Obituary for Mary Connor Mary Louise Connor was born May 23, 1933 and returned to her Heavenly Father on August 16, 2018. She was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Rogers Gibson and Ollie Lavallais Gibson of Mansura, Louisiana. Mary has crossed over to join family and relatives who preceded her.
Her beloved mother and father; grandmother, Alphonsine Kate Murry; brother Joseph Gibson; and son Kavin Girod Connor. Mary graduated from Gilbert Academy high school and received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Southern University at New Orleans. She began as a teacher’s aide at Thomy Lafon Elementary and then worked as a teacher at Incarnate Word Catholic School.
Mary was a passionate educator who touched the lives of many students in the public and catholic schools in Louisiana. Mary Connor is survived by four children from her union with Silas H. Connor, Keith Connor (Leslie); Karen Ann Connor (Wayne Sr.); Karla Connor Bender, Ed.D. (Herbert Jr.); Karl J. Connor, JD, LL. M, (Monika).
She leaves to cherish her memories: 9 grandchildren: Angelique Connor, Keith Brown, Wayne Connor, Janae Bell, Ashley Sabir, Kelsey Connor, Jalen Connor, Herbert Bender III, and Quinn McKay; 2 great-grandchildren: Gregory Todd Bell Jr. and Tatum Sabir; her dearest companion and friend Stanley Depenise who stood by her side until the end; and a host nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends. You may be gone from our sight, but you are never gone from our hearts. You will be tremendously missed.
Rest in peace my dear, sweet mother. Although in the end you endured much pain, you never gave up; always strong and determined. If you looked up the phrase young at heart in the dictionary, beside it would be a picture of you.
We will always remember your loving, colorful, energetic spirit and fashionable diva style. We love you forever!
