Obituary for Monica Barquet-Zanders Monica Barquet-Zanders, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the age of 54. Born in New Orleans, LA on January 17, 1964 to Edward Barquet, Sr. and Annie Crawford. Monica was a graduate of John F. Kennedy Senior High School.
She also attended Grambling State University. She worked in various careers, but mostly enjoyed when she was employed as an educator at Phillis Wheatley Elementary School. Monica was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lawrence and Mary “Redo” Crawford, Charles (Mr. Nookie) and Eugenia Barquet, brother, Lathaire (Booka) Barquet, 5 Aunts and 8 Uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her Husband Steve Zanders; her four Children, Monkisha (Carl Sr.) Porter with former spouse Frederick Johnson, Terrion Martin, Terry Martin, Jr. and Terrol Martin with her first husband Terry Martin, Sr.; Siblings, Debbie (Walter, Jr.) Hasty, Edward “EJ” Barquet Jr. and Lisa (Frankie) Barquet; Grandchildren Zaimyra, Taliyah, Carl, Jr., Kyle, Kody, Tayeson and Demitrius, Jr.; In-laws, Clarence and Lynette Lindsey. Sisters -in-law, Lawianiea and Lynell; Brothers-in-law, Willie (Pamela), Wilbert (Lesher) and Wilfert; Great Aunt, Celeste Ruffin; Aunts, Sandra, Claudette, JoAnn, Sarah (Stanley), Mary Ann (Byron), Rose (Anthony), Gaynell (Kevin), Debbie (Joe) and Terry (Dwayne); Uncles, Lawrence (Joan), Nathaniel (Tonja), Ronald (Ellen), Urban (Brenda), Ronald Sr. (Elizabeth) and Kirk; Best friends, Marie, Sedra and Tammy and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Monica on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at D.W. Rhodes Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave.
