Obituary for Cleo Robertson Cleo Doris Ives Robertson was born July 23, 1929 in Melrose, Louisiana to the late Ellen Antee and James E. Ives. Cleo was the eldest of ten children and moved to New Orleans as a young girl and attended Xavier Prep. Cleo continued to pursue her education at Straight Business College where she later became an employee.

Cleo met the love of her life, George J. Robertson, Sr., who she married on October 19, 1946 at Corpus Christi Church. Cleo and George were married for 54 years. Not only was Cleo George’s partner in life, she was his partner in his auto mechanic business.

She assisted him with the bookkeeping and management of their shop. They were truly a loving and devoted couple. Unbeknownst to many, Cleo often referred to George as “Daddy”.

Cleo and George were the proud parents of two children, Anita Marie and George Jr. Cleo was a devoted housewife and mother, she was extremely talented, and as “smart as a whip”. She kept up with all the current events and the latest gossip. Cleo was a phenomenal seamstress and an avid sports fan.

“Who Dat! ” She enjoyed playing cards, cooking and sharing her recipes with family and friends; a true New Orleanian! It has been said that she could “turn water into wine” and when betting, “she could hustle you out of a dime!

” Cleo was preceded in death by her husband George, her son George, Jr.; siblings, Claude, Max and Elbert Ives, Joyce Ives Scott and Larry Burch. Cleo leaves to cherish her precious memory of her daughter, Anita Marie Robertson; four sisters, Jeanette Ives Terrell, Fay Ann Ives Creighton, Terry Burch, Denise Burch of Los Angeles and her extended family, Emmett, Jovita, Kristin and Alexis Chapital. Cleo was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Melrose, LA.

Cleo’s legacy will live on and she will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Transfiguration of The Lord Catholic Church, 5621 Elysian Fields Ave. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 12:00 pm; Visitation will begin at 9:00 am; Recitation of the Rosary at 11:00 am; Interment: St. Louis Cemetery #3; Arrangements by DW Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave.
