Obituary for Murphy Johnson Murphy Johnson was born in New Orleans, LA. on December 24, 1941 to the late Agnes Morris Joseph and Harry G. Young. Murphy entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the age of 76 in JoEllen Smith Nursing Home.

Murphy was a long time resident of Bridge City, LA. He was a humble and sweet person. Murphy could often be seen sitting under the carport talking with his dear friend, James West.

He leaves to cherish his memories, 4 brothers: George (the late Beatrice) Johnson, Omar (Martha) Sabree, Harry (Vera) Young and Terrance (Kimberly) Butler, 5 sisters: Linda (the late Ezekiel) Birden, Donna (Leroy) Thomas, Harriet Jones, Hester Williams and Elizabeth Grinstead. He is also survived by a neighbor and dear friend James Laverin West, a host of loving and devoted nieces, nephews and friends that loved him. Murphy was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 1020 Virgil St., Gretna, LA. 70053 on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12:00PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00AM.

Interment: Private. Minister Charles Ewell, Officiating. Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 1020 Virgil St., Gretna, LA.
