Angela Jeanne Edwards, March 22, 1970 — June 28, 2018

Obituary for Angela Jeanne Edwards Angela Jeanne Edwards was born March 22, 1970 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the union of the late Andrew John Walker and Bernadette Butler (James). After a courageous battle with Cancer, Angie, as she was affectionately referred to by family and friends, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 28, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Early in life, Angela accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Beacon Light Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Daryl Brister.

In 2008, she married Randolph “Rico” Edwards Jr. In her later years, Angela joined the Abundant Life Tabernacle Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Tyrone G. Jefferson Jr. Angela’s primary education began at Dunbar Elementary School and St. Maurice Elementary School located in the lower ninth ward. In 1984, Angela attended Xavier University Preparatory High School. Later, she attended Southern University at New Orleans, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.

To know “Angie” was to absolutely love her. Her smile was radiant enough to light up any room. Her infectious spirit consumed all she encountered.

As the mother of Jalen Rainey, Angela instilled a sense of pride, courage, a strong work ethic, and the importance of family in her son. Angela leaves to cherish her fondest memories, her mother Bernadette Butler (James), her husband Randolph Edwards Jr., her loving son Jalen Rainey, her stepsons Rico and Dillon Edwards, her stepdaughter Ebony Edwards, her Godchildren Brandon Forte, and Journé and Jasmine Dupree, as well as a host of relatives and friends. Other relatives and friends of the family, also members of Abundant Life Tabernacle Baptist Church, New Orleans Public Schools/Recovery School District, RTA/Transdev, and the New Orleans Fire Department are invited to attend the visitation to be held Friday, July 6 from 9:30-10:00a at Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5600 Read Blvd.
