Barbara’s Obituary Barbara Ann Russell, age 79, Webb City, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at The Communities of Wildwood after a short illness. Barbara was born November 9, 1939 in Baxter Springs, Kansas, daughter of the late Jack Holt and Irene Schaeffer Holt. She graduated from Joplin High School in 1957 where she was a standout volleyball player.

She worked as a youth as a lifeguard, and later worked for the Joplin Globe for sometime before working with J.C. Penney as they opened the store in the Joplin Mall. Barbara retired from J.C. Penney after several years. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, and enjoyed music.

She was a talented Violinist, and could play several instruments by hear. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Russell, who died on June 19, 1996, and a daughter, Cristy Lynn. Survivors include her daughter, Terri Lynn Russell of Webb City; and her brother, Larry Holt and wife Cheryl of West Hills, California.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. No services are planned at this time.
