Brenda’s Obituary Brenda Lea Hale, age 56, Cherokee, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Freeman West after a sudden illness. Brenda was born September 23, 1962 in Pittsburg, Kansas, daughter of the late George A. Gabern and Vernetta Crowe Gabern of Corona, Kansas. She grew up in Corona before marrying Charley William Hale, II in 1978.

The couple had three children, and remained in southeastern Kansas. She worked several jobs over the years, most recently working as a nurse’s aide in home health care. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Gabern.

She was currently living in Cherokee, Kansas with her companion of 12 years, Russell Jardin; also surviving are her children, Roxanna Hale (Caleb Stewart) of Scammon, Kansas, Sarah Hale (Amanda Hale) of Girard, Kansas, and Charley Hale, III (Meredith Robinson) of Corona, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Emery May Hale, Eleanor Jean Hale, Robert Earl Graham, James Hartman, Ashton Hartman, Alexis Hartman, Rorey Stewart, Ruby Stewart, Raelyn Stewart, Robby Robinson, and William Robinson; great-grandson, Hayven Robinson; mother, Vernetta Gabern of Corona, Kansas; sisters, Sandy Jameson of Cherokee, and Tonia Turner of Scammon; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Four State Cremation.
