Barbara Jean Leeper October 11, 1954 – March 12, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Barbara Jean Leeper, 64, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at her home in Rock Springs, surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong resident of Rock Springs. Mrs. Leeper was born October 11, 1954 in Rock Springs, the daughter of Ralph and Angelina Portillo.

She graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1972 and obtained two associate degrees (Computer Science and Accounting) from Western Wyoming College in the 1990’s. Barbara married Howard Leeper June 24, 1989 in Rock Springs. Barbara worked in the family business, Bitter Creek Consulting, Inc. as the accountant/bookkeeper for the past 15 years.

She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community. Barbara enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling, gambling trips to Wendover, Mesquite and Las Vegas, and spending time at the family cabin. She especially enjoyed her time playing in the VNEA pool leagues before health issues forced her to quit.

Survivors include her husband: Howard Leeper, two sons: Carl Bennett (Joanna), Steven Bennett (Amanda), one brother: Ralph Portillo (Fidelis), three sisters: Josephine Portillo, Karen Petty (Ken) and Sharon Seymour (Dave) all of Rock Springs. She has eight grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Last but not least, Rascal, her black lab.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister-in-law Eloisa Portillo (Ralph), one niece Ashley Fletcher and one nephew Kevin Fletcher. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday March 20, 2019 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 116 Broadway St., Rock Springs, WY. A Vigil Service with Rosary will be conducted at 5:00 PM Tuesday March 19, 2019 at the same church.

Interment will be at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the Rosary and again at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday. Condolences may be left at www.
