Obituary for Barbara Jean Mitchell (Fennell) Barbara Jean (Fennell) Mitchell, 88, of Hickory Corners, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Borgess Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born on January 27, 1930, the daughter of Ralph and Jean (Miller) Fennell. She married the love of her life, Gordon Noel Mitchell in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, on February 11, 1956.

She retired after 23 years with the Upjohn Company. She enjoyed making crafts, gardening, boating, and most of all spending time with her family. Her favorite place to be was on her front porch which her husband built for her with loving hands.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Jean Fennell, her brother, Teddy Fennell, her sister, Shirley Sullivan, and her daughter-in-law, Sally Shoe. Barbara is survived by her loving Husband of 63 years, Gordon Noel Mitchell; her children, Phillip Shoe, Carol (Shoe) Rodriguez, Matthew (Kim) Mitchell, Teresa (Joseph) Steele, Kitson (Mindy) Mitchell, and a step-son, Rick (Marlene) Mitchell; 10 Grandchildren, and 16 Great-Grandchildren. Barbara will be sadly missed by all who knew this very special lady.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Hickory Corners Cemetery on April 28, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
