Barbara Lee Crislip (nee Gay) Barbara L. Crislip, 78 years of age, passed away 4/24/18 at Brooks House in Hiram after a long illness. Born in Weston, WV on 10/08/39, she was the daughter of Charles Gay and Louise (Dever) Hall. Barbara grew up in Weston and that is where she met her much loved husband Jack.

They moved to Ravenna in 1963 when Jack went to work for Ford. Barbara spent many years as a homemaker before going to work at Parker Hannifin in Ravenna. She retired after 20 years of service.

Barbara loved her family. The arrival of her grandchildren was one of the greatest joys of her life. The holidays were full of music, fun, food and happiness.

Nothing made her happier than when the entire family was at her dinner table. Barbara loved to travel to the beach and had special memories of trips to Saint Thomas and Myrtle Beach with Jack and their dear friends Jack and Bettie Thompson. Barbara, Candy and friends made several trips to New York where sightseeing, Broadway plays and shopping were the order of the day.

Barbara sang New York, New York at the top of her voice every time she visited the city, including one unforgettable night in front of a fire station on 8th Avenue. Barbara is survived by her daughter Candy Meeker (Robert) of Tallmadge, her son Steven Crislip (Robin) of Mantua, her grandchildren Erin, Jared (Kristen), Lauren and Derek and great grandson Gabriel and brothers Nelson and Larry Gay. She was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished husband Jack, their infant son Robert and her brother Charles (Junior) and sister Jeanette.

Friends and family may call on Saturday 4/28 from 12 to 1 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip funeral home in Ravenna. The Memorial service and Internment at Grandview Memorial Cemetery will immediately follow. The family would like to thank the loving staff at Brooks House for helping us through her journey.

In addition the family would like to extend a special thanks to the team at Cross Roads Hospice including the loving women who spent the final days with us. One particular caregiver named Debbie helped us so much, we will never forget her. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
