Bernard Lee Flanagan March 17, 1952 – February 24, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Barre, VT Bernard Lee Flanagan, 66, of Bailey Street died on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at his home. He was born on March 17, 1952, the son of Billy K. and Gloria (Acker) Flanagan. He attended the VanWert High School in VanWert, OH, graduating in 1970.

On November 7, 1980, Bernie enlisted into the United States Navy where he served until his honorable discharge in 1984. On October 19, 1985, Bernie married Marsha Bellows in Wahiawa, Hawaii. Both he and Marsha lived in many places throughout the world as a military family and settle in the Central Vermont area in 1998.

Marsha predeceased him on August 3, 2005. Bernie was a longtime employee of the Walmart in Berlin and was known for his friendly nature and kindness to all. Christmas was a special time for him.

Santa Clause had a striking resemblance to Bernie, when he would visit the Berlin Mall at Christmas! ! !

! Survivors include his sister, Shelly Smith and her husband, Les of Celina, OH; and his caregivers, Mitchell and Amy Greenslit. Calling hours will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 6th at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home.
