Obituary for Bernice “Bunny” Giles Hopewell – Bernice “Bunny” Giles, 93, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Pratt Rehabilitation and Residence Center. She was born October 26, 1924 in Norfolk, Nebraska to August and Blanche (Heath) Bloedorn. On May 16, 1943, she married Alexander Giles in Haviland.

He preceded her in death on May 4, 2007 as a result of injuries from the Greensburg Tornados. Bunny was a member of Byers United Methodist Church, Byers Mothers Club, United Methodist Women in Byers, Hopewell Extension Homemakers Unit, Sweet Adeline’s and a 4H Leader and Superintendent. She worked at Owl Drug Store and Pharmacy for about 15 years and then went to Nursing School in Great Bend.

She worked as head nurse at Macksville long term care and at Larned State Hospital, where she retired from. She enjoyed sewing, cooking for many people and spent time as a Skyline volunteer helping the students. She is survived by her son, Greg (Marilyn) Giles of Byers; daughters, Cheryl (Sam) Marciano of Hutchinson and Vicki (Gary) Luth of Allerton, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and two great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander; parents; and sister, Dorothy Stueve. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7, at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Larrison Mortuary with Pastor Mike Neifert.

Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Farmington Cemetery, Macksville. Memorials may be made to PCC Nursing Scholarship in care of Larrison Mortuary. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Bernice “Bunny” Giles please visit our Sympathy Store.
