Obituary for Betsy Anne Smith Betsy “Piano Girl” Smith, 84, of Unionville, CT passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 shortly after moving to Spring Hill, TN. Born and raised in New Britain, she was a former Plainville and Port Orange, FL resident. Betsy was the daughter of the late Anna May and Lanphere Acker Lawyer and was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church in New Britain, where she sang in the choir.

Betsy was a 1952 graduate of New Britain High School. Her first job was at the Burritt Music Shop. After being home with her young children, she was a teller at Norman Rockwell and Stanley Works Credit Unions, and a teller and Professional Piano Player in Florida.

She sang in the CT Mountain Laurel Chapter of the Sweet Adelines, and enjoyed directing the Pickwick Village Chorus in Florida. Betsy was predeceased by her husband, Robert Francis Smith and her three sisters; Doris, Ruth, and Edna. She leaves behind three children: Glenn C. Smith and his wife Erin and son Ryan of West Simsbury; Randall J. Smith of Port St Lucie, FL; and Holly A. (Smith) Ross of Spring Hill, TN with her husband David and son Benjamin.

Calling hours are Saturday (April 21, 2018) 9 to 10 AM followed immediately by a memorial service at Carlson Funeral Home 45 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT 06051.
