Obituary for Patricia (Lickwar) Eshoo Patricia (Lickwar) Eshoo, 77, of Kensington, wife of Paul Eshoo, passed away Tuesday (May 1, 2018) at her home. Born in New Britain, daughter of the late Robert and Jennie (Mader) Lickwar, she lived in Kensington since 1971. Pat was a graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1959, attended CCSC and graduated from New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing.
As an RN, Pat worked in the Labor & Delivery and Pediatrics Departments at New Britain General Hospital. She later worked at Andrew’s House in New Britain and at the Berlin Public Health Department, retiring in 2015. A member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in New Britain, she served as a Liturgical Assistant, Lay Eucharistic Visitor and played in the Hand Bell Choir.
Pat was a former member of St. Mary’s Guild and the church Altar Guild. She was a life member of the NBGH Auxiliary; was a past member of the Berlin Sisters in Quilting; formerly served on the Board for the Berlin Public Health and Nursing Services; and was a Commissioner for the Handicapped and Disabled under Berlin Mayor Robert Peters. Pat was also a member of the NBGH School of Nursing Alumni Association; the Friends of the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library; and volunteered in the New Britain Public Schools for many years.
Her passion in her spare time was quilting, reading and visiting the Caribbean every February for the past 45 years. Besides her husband Paul, she leaves three daughters, Paula Eshoo of Bristol; Marlene Calandra and her husband Mike of Wethersfield and Old Lyme; and Melissa Simard and her husband David of Kensington; her sister, Eleanor Hayes of Barrington, RI; two brothers, Deacon Carl Lickwar and his wife Nancy of South Windsor; and Paul Lickwar and his wife Catherine of Plainville; 4 loving grandchildren, Toby, Noah and Nancy Simard and Brenna Calandra; several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her very best friends and traveling buddies, Bob and Pat Peters.
Pat was predeceased by her brother, David Lickwar. Funeral services are Saturday 10 AM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 147 West Main Street, New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
