Obituary for Elizabeth “Betsy” Heather Roberts Elizabeth “Betsy” Heather Roberts, 48, of New Britain, passed away Thursday (July 5, 2018) in the Vitas Hospice Unit at St. Mary Hospital in Waterbury. Born in Bridgeport, she is the daughter of the Rev. James Simpson of Haddam Neck and Ellen (Perkins) Simpson of New Britain with whom she lived.

A graduate of New Britain High School, she attended Endicott College and received a B.S. degree in Social Work from St. Joseph College in West Hartford. Betsy worked in the medical field in Connecticut and Oregon. Betsy fought a courageous battle against MS for 15 years.

She lived for her children who survive her: a son, Callum Roberts and a daughter, Maya Elizabeth Roberts, both of New Britain; She is also survived by her parents, a brother, David Simpson and his wife Lois of New Britain; a granddaughter, Isabella Elizabeth Roberts also of New Britain; a niece and a nephew,, Justina and Nathan Simpson. A memorial service will be held Wednesday (July 11, 2018) 3 PM at First Congregational Church of Southington, 37 Main Street, Southington. Casual dress is appropriate.

There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Friendship Service Center, 241 Arch Street, New Britain, CT 06051 or to the Prudence Crandall Center, 594 Burritt Street, New Britain, CT 06053. The Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is assisting with arrangements.
