Obituary for Stanley H. Helberg Stanley H. Helberg, 88, of Newington, husband of Barbara (Erickson) Helberg, passed away Monday (September 3, 2018) at the Hospital of Central CT. Born in Waterbury, he was a former New Britain resident, and moved to Newington in 1970. Stan served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was a Plant Manager for Stanley Works in their ACME Packaging Division for 45 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational in New Britain. He was a retired Supernumerary Policeman for the Town of Newington.

Besides his wife Barbara, he leaves a son, Robert “Rick” Helberg and his wife MaryEllen of Newington; and three daughters, Nancy Ogren and her husband Roger of Middletown; and twins, Doreen Kenneson and her husband Steven and Deborah Abraham and her husband David all of Newington; 6 grandchildren, Ryan Abraham and his wife Robin of Wethersfield; Courtney Wengell and her husband Justin of Avon; Christopher Abraham of Newington; Lauren Thorner and her husband Christopher of Simsbury; Molly Shumway and her husband Spencer of Belchertown, MA; and Conor Helberg of Boise, Idaho; great grandsons, Bennett Abraham and Jack Thorner; great granddaughters, Blake Abraham, Ella Wengell, Kendall Thorner, and Brooke Thorner; a sister-in-law, Carolyn D’Avanzo of New Hampshire. Stan was predeceased by an infant son, Clifford Willard Helberg; a grandson, Brendan R. Helberg; a sister, Leona Barrows; and a brother, Stuart Hellberg. Funeral services are Saturday (September 8, 2018)11 AM at First Church of Christ, Congregational, 830 Corbin Avenue, New Britain, CT 06052 with a reception following.

Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Ministry of First Church.
