Obituary for George T. Najarian George T. Najarian, 72, of Hawks Nest, Old Lyme, husband of Gail (Tattersall) Najarian, passed away Tuesday (December 25, 2018) at Middle Health in Middletown. Born in New Britain, son of the late Zaven and Mae (Nezdropa) Najarian, he was a former Plantsville resident, moving to Old Lyme in 2004. A graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1964, he was a longtime employee for the City of New Britain.

George was also a referee and umpire at numerous sporting events. He was a member of First Church of Christ, Congregational in New Britain. Besides his wife Gail, he leaves three sons, Michael Najarian and his wife Irene of Plantsville; John Najarian and his wife Tracey of Southington; and David Najarian and his wife Dena of Salisbury, NC; two sisters, Nancy Najarian of New Britain and Margaret Napert and her husband Louis “Sonny” Napert of Norwich; two brothers, Harry Najarian and his wife Patricia of Wolcott, and Robert Najarian and his wife Mary Beth “Mim” Najarian of Wallingford.

Known as “Pops” to his six loving grandchildren, Samuel, Catherine, Rebekah, Isabel, Mya and Joseph Najarian, as well as several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by an infant granddaughter Olivia and his brother, Michael Najarian. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catawba College, 2300 West Innes Street, Salisbury, NC 28144, Attn: Lilly Center/Dr. Clapp (Olivia Najarian Endowment Fund); or Old Lyme Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 911, Old Lyme, CT 06371.
