Obituary for Joseph R. Senk Jr. Joseph R. Senk Jr., 66, of New Britain, husband of Joni Anderson-Senk, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (October 16, 2018) at the Hospital of Central CT. A New Britain native and lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Joseph R. “Boomer” Senk Sr. (NBFD, retired) and Sophie (Orloski) Senk. Joe was a graduate of Pulaski High School and CCSU, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in psychology.
He was proud to be a firefighter on the New Britain Fire Department for over 30 years, retiring in October 2014. He was a life member of the NRA; a member of the Mawaga Sportsman Club in Agawam, MA; and the Agawam Revolver Club in Feeding Hills, MA. An avid fisherman, Joe caught a 50-pound striper on Race Point Beach in Provincetown, MA.
He loved to cook and made countless meals in the firehouses, as well as teaching others to cook and enjoy his many specialties. He spent many years with family and friends on the Cape, cooking, camping, fishing and just enjoying the beach. He loved his red 1980 CJ-5, a jeep he had restored and reminisced about.
In addition, he was a loyal Yankees and Vikings fan, enjoying many live games. Most of all, Joe loved his dogs and hiking in the woods. He and Joni loved to camp, hike and travel with their golden retrievers, Casey, Toby and black lab, Cody.
Besides his wife Joni, he leaves a stepson, Brian D. Paskewich of Wethersfield; a stepdaughter, Kristen “Sweet Pea” L. Paskewich of Middletown; a sister, Patricia Michalski and her husband Joseph; a nephew Christopher and his wife Jaime; a brother, Raymond Senk and his wife Annette. He also leaves his loyal brother and sisters in law Glenn, Joyce and Nancy Anderson and nephews Gregg, Kevin and Kristopher as well as great nephews Jacob, Steven and Zachary, many friends, especially Paul “BoBo” Gibeau and Joe’s two loyal, faithful dogs Cody and CJ. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his nephew, Joseph Michalski (a kindred spirit to Joe).
