Obituary for George E. Papanicolaou George E. Papanicolaou, 85, of Newington, husband of the late Irene (Tyropolis) Papanicolaou, passed away Tuesday (October 23, 2018) at his home. Born in Greece, he was a former New Britain resident and lived in Newington for over 20 years. George was a Vice President at the former CT Bank & Trust until his retirement and was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain.

Surviving is his sister, Maria Theodoropoulou in Greece; the children of Maria Theodoropoulou, his nephew, Paul Theodoropoulos and his niece, Emmanoula Theodoropoulou, in Greece; as well as his wife Irene’s relatives, Peter Mlynarczyk, Helen Simons, Melonie Ainslee and brother in law, John Tyropolis. Also surviving are two grandnieces, Krystal and Julia Ainslee; and a great grandnephew, Reign. Private funeral services are at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Church.
