Obituary for Matthew Bradley Mainieri Matthew Bradley Mainieri, 41, of Windsor, passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2018 in Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina. Born in Burlington, VT, raised in Colchester, VT, he lived in Connecticut since 1996 and later became a part time resident of Murrell’s Inlet, SC since 2017. He received an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Champlain College and was currently working on receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from Charter Oak State College.

Sgt. Mainieri was a 20-year veteran of the South Windsor Police Department and was the owner of Connecticut Aerial Imagery, his drone photography and videoing company. He began working as a Community Service Officer in January 1998 and became a Police Officer in May of 1999.

During his career, Matthew served as an Officer, Corporal and Sergeant. He served in the Traffic Unit and Criminal Investigations Unit. Matt was member of the regional traffic unit (Metro Traffic Services) and was an accident reconstructionist.

He was also an outstanding instructor in many areas including firearms and police motorcycle operation. Matt was a member of the Capitol Region Emergency Services Team (regional Special Weapons and Tactics team) and was skilled at explosive breaching. In recent months, Sgt.

Mainieri became heavily involved in starting an Unmanned Aerial System program for the Police Department and obtaining the drone technology to find missing persons and suspects. He was also the recipient of several awards including the department Medal of Valor, Chief’s Award, Lifesaving Award and Certificates of Commendation. Sgt.

Mainieri spent his off-duty time with friends riding motorcycles, traveling to Vermont and South Carolina. He was a member of the Vermont Wing of the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol; the Colchester Rescue as an Emergency Medical Technician; and was a Harbor Master for Colchester, VT Police Department. Matt leaves behind his mother, Bonnie (Bradley) Mainieri; a sister, Caroline Mainieri; two nephews, Daniel Cousino and Nicholas Chicoine; a niece, Isabella Chicoine; his girlfriend, Erin Jones of South Windsor, CT and countless friends.

Matt was predeceased by his father George Mainieri and a sister, Suzan Beatrice. A Memorial Service will be held Friday September 7, 2018 10 AM at First Cathedral, 1151 Blue Hills Ave. , Bloomfield, CT 06002.
