Obituary for Doris (Gottlin) Aiudi Doris (Gottlin) Aiudi, 91, of New Britain and Westbrook, wife of the late Joseph J. Aiudi, passed away Monday (May 7, 2018) at her home. A New Britain native, she was a former Berlin resident, returning to New Britain in 1948, after marrying the love of her life, to build their dream home together. Doris was a graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1944 and a lifetime member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Doris loved spending her weekends and summers at her second home located at Old Kelsey Point Beach Association. She also enjoyed hosting family gatherings, watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren lives evolve. Besides beach going Doris spent her time on the shoreline aboard her and her husbands boat Cheral, exploring new ports and perfecting their fishing techniques which won her the Women Angler of the Year.

Surviving is a son, Alan Aiudi of New Britain; a daughter, Cheryl Aiudi Cook of Westbrook; a brother, Philip Gottlin of Bellview, Florida; a sister, Violette Majewski of Kensington; five grandchildren, Daniel Aiudi and his wife Vickie, Dane Aiudi and his wife Jennifer, Eric Aiudi, Bethany Aiudi and James Cook; three great grandchildren, Carolyn, Mason and Madison Aiudi; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Joe, Doris was predeceased by her son, William “Bill” Aiudi, daughter-in-law, Nancy (Lewis) Aiudi, a son-in-law, Lenny Moroni and a brother, Paul Gottlin. Funeral services are Friday 11 AM at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 234 Farmington Avenue, Kensington.

Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Calling hours are Thursday 5 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
