Betty F. Wentz, age 88 of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg. She was born Tuesday, November 5, 1929 in Biglerville a daughter of the late George and Lucy (Riley) Slaybaugh. She was a graduate of Biglerville High School (1947).

She was also a graduate of Washington County School of Nursing in Hagerstown (1950). Her and her husband, Edwin, worked as missionaries in Japan for the Evangelical Lutheran Church from 1951 to 1989. They… Read More » were members of St Paul Lutheran Church in Biglerville.

She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Wentz Berry and husband Paul of St. Petersburg, Florida , Elizabeth A. Bucher and husband Tom of Mechanicsburg, and Michal W. Howell and husband Dave of Carlisle, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Raudabaugh. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Edwin C. Wentz (2017).

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 18, at St. Paul Lutheran Church 25 Franklin St., Biglerville with Pastor Timothy Seitz-Brown officiating. The family will receive friend following the service.
