Bettye’s Obituary Bettye D. Shaver, age 85, went home to be with her Savior and Comforter on Saturday, May 25, 2019. She was born December 30, 1933 to the late Dean McGuire and Maude Denton in Texas. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dean.

Mrs. Shaver was valedictorian of her high school graduating class and attended Mary Hardin Baylor University. She loved teaching children and received her bachelor’s degree in K-4 at UNC-G in 1975, teaching at Calvary Baptist and retiring from WS Forsyth County Schools in 1988. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Welcome, teaching Sunday School, delivering Meals on Wheels and was a member of Senior Friends.

Formally a member of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, she was Sunday School Superintendent, teacher and led many Bible studies. Mrs. Shaver is survived by a son, Dean and wife Leisha of Lexington; a daughter, Marcia Shore and husband, Dennis of Midway; a sister, Jo Denton of Texas; seven grandchildren, Philip Singleton (Darcie) of King; Emily Wommack (Joel) of Charlotte; Jake Shore of Midway; Marissa Shaver of OR; Cameron Shaver of SC; Challie Monk (Andrew) of SC; and Grant Shaver (Caroline) of SC; along with five great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service is planned for 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Welcome, where she was a member, conducted by Rev.

Mark Blair with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will see friends from 10:00 am – 11:00 am prior to the service. Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the Shaver family.
