Billie Jo “Bunyu” Carter, age 95, was a beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and loyal friend. Bunyu passed away at her home in Karnack, Texas on May 17, 2019 surrounded by her family. Born on March 9, 1924 in Grand Saline, Texas to Robert Emmett Collett and Della Jackson, Bunyu grew up to marry the love of her life, Malcolm Wayne Carter who preceded her in death in 1969.

Also preceding Billie Jo in death were her parents, her three sisters, Dale, Daisy and Heardiline; one brother, Jack and her son, Tommy Wayne Carter. Bunyu is survived by her daughter, Linda Kay Carter of Karnack; her daughter-in-law, Sally Carter of Longview; two grandsons, Clifton Wayne Allen of Karnack, Kevin Don Allen and his wife, Kim of Houston; three granddaughters, Kim Brabbits, Stephanie Carpenter, and Kelli Kerby and her husband, Scott of Hallsville; eight great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Kolby Allen of Houston, Shelbey Kirkland and her husband, Eric, Dylan Read of Marshall, Cody Beckham and Kailee Simmons of Longview, Katie And Taylor Brabbits of Missouri; one great-great-granddaughter, Reese Willow Kirkland of Marshall, and her step-son, Sonny Bijlsma. Bunyu loved the Lord and going to church at Karnack Methodist Church.

She also loved shopping, bubble baths and spending time with her family. Bunyu had a great sense of humor, enjoyed telling people stories about her life growing up and she stayed optimistic about her life until her last day here. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Meadowbrook Funeral Home on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Funeral service will be held at Meadowbrook Funeral Home on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10:30am with Chaplain Lawrence Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Colonial Gardens Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to Karnack Methodist Church in honor of Bunyu. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for the love and care shown our Bunyu. Online condolences may be offered at www.
