Blanche Mapes October 17, 1921 – January 03, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Blanche Mapes, of Hartwick Township near Evart, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Munson Cadillac Hospital. She was 97. Mrs. Mapes was born October 17, 1921 in Lansing, Michigan to Oscar and Phebe (Blackledge) Pifer.

Blanche married Maurice Mapes July 15, 1940 in Lake City and he preceded her in death in 2007. Blanche was a lifelong Avondale area resident and was a member of the Avondale United Methodist Church. Blanche is survived by two sons, Scott (Robin) Mapes of Ocala, Florida, Steve (Bonnie) Mapes of Evart, three granddaughters, Sheri (Bart) Gallinger of Evart, Dawn (Aaron) Riggleman of Evart, Ashton Mears of Ocala, Florida, a grandson, Shawn (Jessica) Mapes of Sopchoppy, Florida, seven great grandchildren, Morgan, Lillie, Bella, Meah, Jayci, Oakley, and Bodi, and a brother Max Pifer of McBain.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maurice, and a granddaughter, Kirstin. Funeral services honoring the life of Blanche Mapes are 1:00pm Saturday, January 5th at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart with Glynn Russell from the Avondale United Methodist Church officiating . Mrs. Mapes will be laid to rest next to her husband in Cherry Valley Cemetery in Hartwick Township, Osceola County, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Osceola County Commissuion on Aging. [MC1]Rs.
