Obituary for Bobby Newel Thompson Bobby Newel Thompson, of Dallas, Texas was born on October 27, 1933, in Abilene, Texas to Oliver Newel and Nettie Lou (Herndon) Thompson. He had a brother, William. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1952.

Bobby attended Texas A & M where he majored in Architecture. While there he became known as “Smiley”. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 and was stationed in Germany for 18 months.

Bobby married the love of his life, Rosalie, in 1954. They raised two beautiful daughters, Kimberly Ann and Kristie Lynne, in Dallas. He worked for Fox and Jacobs Homebuilders for 10 years before branching out on his own as a home designer.

Designing homes was his passion; he was a wonderful architectural designer with an eye for details. Bobby retired from his designing business in 2013. Bobby was called Home on July 17, 2018, after he fought a hard battle with lung cancer.

He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, Newel and “Bobbie” Thompson; his daughter, Kimberly Ann Gillham; his brother, William Eugene Thompson; and his Aunt Willie and Uncle Ed Kniffen. Bobby’s life will continue to be remembered and celebrated by his loving wife of 64 years: Rosalie Thompson of Denton, TX; daughter: Kristie Thompson of Denton, TX; grandchildren: Katie Payne and husband Jonathan, Scott Croix and wife Jamie and Paul Gillham and wife Brittany; and great grandchildren: Weston, Kalleigh, and Elizabeth. A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held 1:00 pm Friday, July 27, 2018, at Reflection at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Location with Minister Paul Gillham officiating.

A reception will be held following the service at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Location. Memorials in Bobby’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www. alz.org, the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.
