Obituary for Bobbye Jean Petty Bobbye Jean Petty, 91 years young, of Pampa was joyfully greeted at Heaven’s Gates by her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, February 22, 2019 in Pampa. She entered this life on August 22, 1927 to CJ and Ethel Bryan in Electra, Texas. Bobbye moved to Pampa with her family sixty years ago from Fritch.
She helped open the Sears Store in town beginning as a store clerk and working her way up to assistant manager. She eventually became secretary for Kerr McGee and volunteered in a nursing home ministry. Bobbye was one of the founding charter members of Hobart Baptist Church in Pampa where she served as a treasurer for many years.
She married the love of her life, Gilbert Petty, at fifteen years old on April 25, 1943 and spent sixty-six amazing years together until his passing on December 16, 2009. The one thing that defined Bobbye was her love and devotion to Jesus Christ. Her servant heart and “come as you are” spirit was seen by all who knew her and even those who were strangers.
Her life exemplified the fruits of the spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control day in and day out. Bobbye took pride in taking care and relentlessly loving her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was rarely upset, extremely patient, always had a giving heart and kind word for everyone she met.
Bobbye was known for her legendary cooking and capturing moments worth remembering through her photography. While her family’s hearts are hurting at her absence, they hold on to the eternal hope that Christ promised to those that love Him and take comfort in knowing that Bobbye is dancing on streets of gold with her Savior, husband and family. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Gilbert Petty; daughter, Donna Duvall and brother, Gary Bryan.
Those left behind to cherish a lifetime of memories are a son, Larry Petty and wife Kristi of Pampa; brother, Dean Bryan and wife Marlene of Sunray; ten grandchildren, Brooke Petty of Haslet, Heather Maul and husband Adam of Pampa, Micki Jean Petty of Pampa, Chandler Jean Petty of Pampa, Taylor Fatheree and wife Kinleigh of Denver, Colorado, Garrett Fatheree of Ft. Worth, Madison Shelden and husband Jeb of Littleton, Colorado, Jill Brumley and husband Robert of Keller, Dustin Parks of Pampa, Chad Parks of Pampa; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and special friend, Nita Wallace of Lefors. Foster Pampa, Texas 79065.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends held at Larry and Kristi Petty’s house at 1819 Evergreen St. on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 6pm- 8pm. Celebration of Life Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Hobart Baptist Church with Brother Mike Borger officiating. Following the service, interment will take place at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
