Johnny Jay Isbell June 06, 1945 – February 10, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Johnny Jay Isbell, 73, of Pampa passed away Sunday, February 10, 2018 in Amarillo. Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Zack Greer, Mission Pastor at First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Military honors will be rendered by Pampa VFW Post #1657. Johnny was born on June 6, 1945 in San Antonio and graduated from Pampa High School in 1966.

He was drafted into the U. S. Army and proudly served from 1969 until 1975, stationed in Germany. He attended Oklahoma State Technical College where he studied small engine repair. He worked at Radcliff Supply working on small engines.

In 1976, Johnny went to work Cabot Corporation in the machinery division as a painter and retired from National Oilwell Varco in 2006. During his retirement he enjoyed working on friend’s and neighbor’s cars, collecting and flying model airplanes, watching John Wayne movies, war movies, and sci-fi movies, drinking coffee at McDonald’s or the North 40 and fishing. Survivors include his daughter, Susie Isbell and partner Debra of Bridgeport; a brother, Jerry Isbell and his wife Frances; a nephew, Jerry Isbell, Jr. and wife Leigh of McLean; three nieces, Eva Whittington and husband Jeff of Amarillo, Dixie Lively of Gainesville, and Buffy Jennings and husband Dennis of Pampa.
