Joy’s Obituary Joy Haynes, 86, of Pampa, passed away February 13, 2019 in Amarillo. Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Vondel Stevens, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Haynes was born February 21, 1932 to Cleo and Wylie Davis. She grew up and attended school in Mobeetie.

During high school, she met Walden Haynes and they later married on January 8, 1950 in Mobeetie. Shortly after their marriage, Joy and Walden would move to Pampa where they would reside ever since. She was a longtime member and Sunday school teacher at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Joy was a talented seamstress and loved to crochet afghans for her family. She also loved to care for her home and was an avid reader. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.

Survivors include her husband, Walden Haynes of the home; a daughter, Kathy Gomez of Pampa; two sons, Steven Haynes and wife Linda of Lubbock, and Gary Haynes and wife Margaret of Hinton, Oklahoma; three sisters, Nellie Williams of Sudan, TX, Sharon Brown of Pampa and Glenda Pecka of Tomball, TX; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and a son-in-law, Mike Gomez.
