Obituary for Bryne Harold Parker Bryne Harold Parker (Master Chief, U.S. Navy Retired) of North Charleston, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 after an 11 year-long battle with cancer. Born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Bryne was a Native American and a member of the Tuscarora Tribe – Six Nations Indian Reservation. He grew up in Cowpens, South Carolina and Floral City, Florida.

After graduating from Citrus High School in Inverness, FL in 1965, he joined the navy, served two tours in Vietnam aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Intrepid, had three tours in Scotland, sea duty aboard the U.S.S. Canopus, U.S.S. Simon Lake, U.S.S. Hunley, and U.S.S. Roosevelt, and shore duty at Cecil Field Naval Air Station (Jacksonville) POMFLANT (Charleston), RSG Charleston Naval Base, and Naval Air Station Norfolk, retiring in 1991. He was an honor graduate of the College of Charleston with a degree in Urban Planning. He was a Boy Scout leader for several years, and served on the School Improvement Committee at Fort Dorchester High School.

Bryne is survived by his wife of 47 years Dr. Sandra Stidham Parker, sons Jeremy Patton Jacket Parker, Joshua Henderson Parker, daughter-in-law Susan Zepka-Parker of North Charleston, sister Carolyn Faith Parker of Jacksonville, FL, father Charles Jones Parker also of Jacksonville, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all over the world. He was an avid reader and traveler. He was proud that he had visited every U.S. state, every province in Canada, every National Parker reachable by car, and over 15 countries.
