Obituary for Carla Marie Seagraves Carla Marie Seagraves was born January 16, 1965, to the late Jackie Eugene and Nora Johnson Seagraves. She departed this life on October 27, 2018 in the Community Hospice Center in Ashland, KY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant niece, Hannah Bond.
Carla is survived by a sister, Andrea Seagraves of Grayson; a brother, Ronnie Seagraves and wife, Stephanie also of Grayson; nephews, Evan Seagraves, Jacob Seagraves and Drew Bond; niece, Emily Bond Robinson; great-nieces, Poppy Nora Bond, Candace Robinson and Hannah Robinson. Carla enjoyed serving God as well as her family and friends. She had a passion for serving through Vacation Bible School for more than 30 years.
For many years Carla enjoyed cleaning and putting things in order for others, and she made a living doing this and caring for the elderly in their homes. She took care of some of the nicest people and made lasting friendships with them and their families. Several of these have been very special to her and have supported her to the very end.
She enjoyed traveling by bus and going to the ocean just because it made her feel the peace of God’s presence. Carla was an advocate for mental health awareness as she battled mental illness with stride for 30 years. She received help and support from her friends and staff at Pathways in Grayson.
She was so grateful for each and every one of them; and she was so thankful for the goals they reached as much as she was for her own mile stones. Her faith, strength and courage have been an inspiration to those who have witnessed her battle with pancreatic cancer. She will be sorely missed by the many who were her friends and family.
