Carleton “Carl” George Hunter, Sr. March 07, 1937 – February 17, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Carleton “Carl” George Hunter, Sr., of Charles Town, was received into the arms of Our Loving God on Feb. 17, 2019. He lived his life proclaiming the Love of Jesus Christ.

A kind, funny, hard working man, Carl exemplified the true meaning of a life well lived. He was an adventurous man who enjoyed many sports and loved to travel. He honored his country by serving in the National Guard.

He honored God by always putting him first. He honored his family with his his selflessness and enduring Love. Born March 7, 1937 in Biddeford, Maine.

He was the son of Charles Hunter and Grace (Williams) Hunter. Carl retired from the Washington Post as Supervisor in the Production Department. He was a member of Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Middleway.

He graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School, class of 1956, in Maine. He is survived by his 2nd wife, Bettyjean V. Zigler Hunter, at home; daughters, Debbie El’Enani, of Georgia, Rhonda Pack and husband Donald, of Nebraska, Mary Hamm, of Baltimore, Maryland, Carla Burgin, of Martinsburg, Rebecca Jablonski and husband Robert, of North Carolina and son, Charleton G. Hunter, Jr., of California; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and brother, Robert Hunter and wife Sharon, of Virginia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Hunter and two brothers, Charles Hunter and Edward Hunter.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 at the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town with the Rev. John Faircloth officiating.

Interment will be in Hedgesville Cemetery, Zion Road, Hedgesville. Friends will be received noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Please sign the online guestbook and view his obituary at www.
