Carmen’s Obituary Carmen Allene Shippy, 87, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, January, 8, 2019, at Meyer Care Center of Higginsville. Carmen was born on August 18, 1931, in rural Johnson County to Henry and Lola (Maloney) Bedsaul. She graduated from Kingsville High School and married Glenn Shippy on March 10, 1950.

To this union were born four sons. Over the years Carmen enjoyed playing pitch, square dancing, tending a large garden, and cooking many delicious meals for the hay crews that put up thousands of square bales of hay on the farm. She worked more than 30 years for the Centerview school district.

She was a state champion baton twirling majorette in high school. Carmen loved caring for her 4 boys, 5 grandsons, and 15 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the Centerview community.

Carmen is survived by two sons, Tients (Mary Alice) Shippy of Centerview and Steve Shippy of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Jean Shippy of Centerview; grandsons, Alan (Desirae) Shippy of Centerview, Chris (Lisa) Shippy of Centerview, Chad (C.J.) Shippy of Warrensburg, Cody Shippy of Centerview, and Clint (Tracy) Shippy of Centerview; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Trevor, Olivia, Taylor, Bradley, Lillie, Stella, Adalynn, Breanna, Cabe, Laila, Maddie, Amelia, and Conway; brother, Bob (Judy) Bedsaul of Lee’s Summit; and numerous extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Shippy; parents, Henry and Lola Bedsaul; sons, Danny and Jim Shippy; and great-grandson, Conner Shippy. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Mannering officiating.

Interment will follow the service in Centerview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Shippy, Chris Shippy, Chad Shippy, Cody Shippy, Clint Shippy, and Sam Shippy. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Braver, Paul Willard, Junior Steelman, and Frank Hill.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to either the Centerview Ballpark or Johnson County Christian Academy and checks may be left in care of the funeral home.
