Obituary of Carolyn Ann Oland Carolyn Ann “Carol” Oland, 74, of Snow Hill, formerly of Frederick, MD, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, surrounded by her family at Chesapeake Cottage in Snow Hill, MD. Born on September 1, 1943, in Fort Knox, KY, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Margaret “Hazel” South Rich. Following graduation from Academy of the Holy Names in Silver Spring, MD, she continued her education at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she received her teaching degree.

She then began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Anne Arundel County and Frederick County Public School systems. Carol continued her education at Frostburg State University, completing her Masters and Doctorate programs, further benefiting her students. Carol’s lifelong work continued after retirement as a substitute teacher in the Wicomico and Worcester County School systems.

Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who devoted her life to her family and her students. Her colleagues and students became her extended family. Carol is survived by her husband of 46 years, Kenneth W. Oland, Sr.; son, Kenneth W. Oland, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Salisbury, MD; daughter, Deborah L. Oland of Salisbury, MD; granddaughter, Kate Oland; sister, Mary Chwirut and her husband Dan of Rockville, MD; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, 7442 Mt. Olive Church Road, Snow Hill, MD 21863.

Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service. Rev. E. Thomas Northam will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21803. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 107 Vine Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
