Obituary for Carolyn McElrath Carolyn McElrath, age 83, of Powder Springs passed away June 20, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 22 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel in Powder Springs. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the service.

Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, Marietta. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents: Henry & Octavia Augustine and brothers-in-law Will Sherman and Ronnie McElrath. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 ½ years Roy McElrath of Powder Springs; son Rodney McElrath of Powder Springs; daughter Sharon (Derrick) Echols of Powder Springs; sisters: Henrietta Sherman and Sarah Elizabeth (Ed) Elrod both of Greenville, SC; nephews: Rick (Mary) Elrod, Donnie (Gail) Elrod both of Greenville, SC; Randy Walker; niece Robin Mathis of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law Glenda McElrath and nieces: Carrie Gilleland, Penny Leek, Terri McElrath and Carol Burke.

Carolyn held the most respected vocation—homemaker. She loved and cared for her family. Her most gratifying pleasure was working in the yard with her flowers.

Carolyn and Roy are members of Fortified Hills Baptist Church and members of Club 55 Senior Bowling League at Brunswick Lanes in Austell since 1992. She supported Roy in his role with the Cobb County Special Olympics and was a volunteer chaperone for social functions and sports events for more than 30 years. Her most recent pleasant years were spent living in the Bel-Aire Community with her new family of friends that she cherished dearly.
