Being the oldest, she always felt it was her responsibility to take charge over her sisters. At the age of five, Dolly, as she was affectionally called by her father, began playing the violin and became an accomplished violinist.
She pursued this passion through her high school career but opted to decline a music scholarship at graduation and entered the work force. Music was always an important part of her life and she enjoyed playing the piano and organ into her 80’s. After high school, she worked many years as a legal secretary.
Catherine then began her 30-year banking career starting as a secretary in the installment loan department and retiring as a loan officer at what is now Wells Fargo Bank. She was the first female to become an installment loan officer in the Anaconda bank. When the Elks mid-winter meeting was held in Anaconda, Catherine was asked to take and record the minutes.
She continued to act as recording secretary at every Elks Convention and midwinter meeting for many years being the only woman allowed to be present at these closed sessions. Through this experience, she made many long-lasting friendships throughout the state which she cherished. Catherine was also involved with the Anaconda Chamber of Commerce, various clubs and banking organizations.
She was the recipient of the Spark Plug Award for her work and dedication to the Chamber. When Catherine was called back home to heaven on January 31, 2018 she was surrounded by her family. Waiting to meet her at the pearly gates were her parents, sister Mary Ann Sanders, brothers in law Joe Rashleigh and Ray Sanders, and nephew Jonathan Sanders.
She is survived by her sisters Angie (Bob) King, Antoinette (Gayland) Ida of Anaconda, and Michele Rashleigh of Butte. Nieces and nephews Crystal Ida, Jennifer (Chad) Kriskovich, Lisa (Mike) Anderson, Tina Powers, Todd Rashleigh, Jeanine Rashleigh, Kathy (Jerry) Miller, Cindy (Joe) McCarthy, Bob (Lisa) King, Mike (Roxi) King, Rosie (Greg) Garrison, Raymond (Cyndee) Sanders, Paul (Stacia) Sanders, Kenny (Chrisdee) Sanders, Joy (Drake) Scheetz, Annette Cornelly, Chris (Michelle) Sanders, and Mary (Craig) Roblyer. She also leaves behind many great nieces, nephews and their families.
Catherine’s family would like to thank Copper Ridge and their staff for the wonderful care and compassion she was given these last six years. Mass of Christian burial will be at Holy Family Church in Anaconda on Tuesday February 13th at 10:30 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
