Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Tuesday November 20, 2018 at St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church. 11001 Dorchester Road, Summerville, from 6-8 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa’s on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at 9 AM. Charlie, son of Albert and Olive (Maple) Vincent, was born on February 18, 1938 in Burlington, VT. As a young man he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
In May of 1966, God placed Sarah Eccleston Dunkerley, a beautiful widowed mother of six, in his path. At the time, Charlie was a single father of one. Charlie and Sarah married and soon had another child.
Together, they proudly and lovingly raised their eight children. Sarah was the love of his life. They were married for 50 years, separated only briefly upon Sarah’s death, but now reunited in heaven.
Charlie retired from the Navy after 20 years, earning the rank of Master Chief. During his naval career, he served on numerous nuclear submarines and eventually as a Navy electronics instructor. After the Navy, he had a second career in the nuclear power field where he was employed by VA Power in Virginia and Seabrook Power in New Hampshire.
Charlie and Sarah retired in Summerville, SC. Charlie was a member of St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church in Summerville and the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted husband, father, “Grampy” and “Great-Grampy”.
He loved his family and cherished his friends. He was a man of great character and had a heart of gold. Charlie was a master story teller, a smooth talker, and a great dancer.
He had a quick wit and an infectious laugh. His favorite mantra was “life is good”. We will miss his humor, kindness and unconditional love.
