Charles Jacob Getson, Sr., 64, of Deer Park, MD, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland, MD. Born January 18, 1955, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late George Jacob Getson and Virginia Frances (Shank) Getson-Chappell. Charles worked as a coal miner for over 35 years at Mettiki Coal Corporation.

He served in the United States Navy. He is survived by three sons, C.J. Getson, Oakland; Ben Getson and wife, Amy, Oakland; Connor Getson, Fort Mill, SC; one daughter, Jessica Getson, Oakland; one sister, Jackie Fletcher and husband, Reverend Bob, Cresaptown, MD; seven grandchildren, Derek Getson and wife, Patty; Trevor Getson; Caelee Getson; Ty Getson; Jax Getson; Alyssa Bahner; Kedan DeWitt. Friends will be received at the Loch Lynn Church of God, 8649 Gorman Rd.

, Oakland, MD, 21550, on Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be conducted at the church on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., with Reverend Robert Fletcher officiating. Interment will be in the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD, 21550, is in charge of his arrangements.
