Verl Willard Baker, Jr., 76, of Crellin, MD, died Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland, MD. Born May 26, 1942, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Verl W. Baker, Sr. and Geraldine E. (Stewart) Baker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, S. Kay (Pike) Baker; one daughter, Jessica Baker; one sister, Connie Humberson.

Verl worked as an over-the-road truck driver for many years and was veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed riding Harleys and going on trips with his family. Verl was a former member of the Elks Club.

He enjoyed watching football and going camping and had a love for horses, especially his horse, Joe. He is survived by a son, Aaron W. Baker and wife, Heather, Oakland; a daughter, Catherine Pilkerton, Bloomington, MD; two brothers, Danny Baker and wife, Barb; Mike Baker and wife, Skeets; two sisters, Pam Shaffer and husband, Rocky; Gloria Holtschneider and husband, Jack; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. At his request, Verl will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
