Alverda Carolyn Rush, 89, of Oakland, MD, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland. Born July 18, 1929, in Accident, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Raymond and Arletta Matilda (Burkhardt) Bowser. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Esli Rush; a daughter, Rhonda Lynn Rush; two brothers, Elwood and Albert Rush; one sister, Loretta Rush.

Alverda worked as a seamstress at Deer Park Manufacturing. She enjoyed watching birds and deer and was an avid reader and word search puzzler. Alverda loved spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she was very proud of.

She is survived by four sons, Lonnie Dolan Rush and wife, Maggie; Larry Scott Rush and wife, Barbara; Bradley Eugene Rush and wife, Reba, Timothy Clay Rush and wife, Kimberly, all of Oakland; one daughter, Kellie Colleen Weibrecht and husband, Ed, La Plata, MD; one brother, Glen Bowser, Accident; one sister, Norma Bernard, Oakland; eighteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, MD, 21550, on Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Services will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sam Moon officiating. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Accident.
