Charles L. “Burger” Mongold, 90, of Baker, WV, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at his home. Burger was born on August 21, 1927 in Needmore, WV, a son of the late David and Rachel Dove Mongold. He retired from the U.S Forest Service in January of 1994 after working 32 years.

Burger was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church in Baker, WV and had been a Ranger at the Trout Pond Recreational area since 1969. Burger married the late Virginia Kathline Parker Mongold on April 24, 1946. … Read More » Surviving are three sons: Steve Mongold of Baker, WV; Paul Mongold and wife Patricia of Moorefield, WV; Leon Mongold and wife Jackie of College Park, MD; two daughters: Hilda Wilkins of Baker, WV; Rosie Lohr and husband Everette of Broadway, VA; one brother; three sisters; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law: Sandra Mongold; and two special friends and neighbors: Ethel Mills and Leroy Helmick.

He is preceded in death by a son: Clites Mongold; two brothers and five sisters. A funeral service will be held at the Salem Mennonite Church on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev.

Craig Good and Rev. Lewis Paugh. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville, WV on Sunday, June 10th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions to the Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery Fund, 3832 Parker Hollow Road, Baker, WV 26801 or the Hardy County Emergency Ambulance Authority, 17940 SR 55, Baker, 26801.
