Obituary for Clara Belle Holmes Clara Belle Cain Holmes passed away peacefully on May 19, 2018 in Hanceville, Alabama. She was born on October 26, 1923 to Ernest and Deette Cain in Elizabethtown, North Carolina where she lived until her marriage to Robert Wesley Holmes in 1942. After his service in WW2 ended, they moved to Clinton, Iowa, where she spent the majority of her life.

After raising their family, they retired to her childhood home in Elizabethtown. After spending many years there enjoying retired life, they moved to Birmingham, AL to be closer to family members and resided near Birmingham until their deaths. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings- Ernest Cain (Sonny), Regina Vaught, Addison Cain, her spouse; Children Betsy Lou Holmes and Richard Earl Holmes.

She is survived by her daughter Becky Tolan (Roger); sons Robert III (Janet) and Thomas (Jamie) and daughter-in-law, Theresa Holmes. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and several beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on July 21, 2018 at 3pm at Gardendale Funeral Home in Gardendale, AL.

Graveside services and burial will be held at Old Trinity Methodist cemetery in Elizabethtown, NC on July 24th at 3pm.
