Clarence W. Osterberg 97, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at his home. Clarence was born on February 10, 1921 in Aurora. He was the son of Swedish immigrants G. Walfred and Hedvig (Friberg) Osterberg.

He was a 1939 graduate of Iron Mountain High School. Clarence spent his whole life on the family farm in Aurora. He was well known in the local farming community.

Over the years he served in numerous local organizations including the Homestead-Aurora Conservation Club, Farmers Union and the Pulling Together Horse Club. He loved his horses and gave many winter sleigh rides into the woods, where they would have a campfire and roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Clarence also used his horses for much of his farm work and logging.

His last horse was Sam and was his pride and joy. Clarence also loved attending the local county fairs and was an avid photographer. He was fluent in Swedish and taught local swedish classes.

He also enjoyed traveling, especially his trips to Sweden, Scandinavia and Alaska. Clarence was a longtime active member of the Aurora Free Church where he served as a board member, treasurer and choir member. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Carl.

Clarence is survived by his nephews, Roger (Tricia) Osterberg of Aurora, Ronnie (Sally) Osterberg of Aurora and Ted Osterberg of Aurora; grand nephew, Paul Osterberg of Aurora; grand niece, Sara (Ken) Burke of Niagara and great grand niece, Nora Burke. Visitation will be on Monday, February 11th from 9:00am-12:00 noon at the Aurora Free Church. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the church.

Rev. James Danielson will officiate. Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roger, Ted and Ronnie Osterberg, Paul Osterberg, Gary Osterberg, Bob Hedmark and John Roberts.
